Heron Hill Primary school had recently had a tree inspection completed that identified an small wooded area that needed some attention to remove a proportion of ash trees suffering with ash die back alongside removing dead wood from a few other species.
After close discussion it was decided to utilise the cut wood to enhance the site with the creation of an outdoor classroom for use by the school staff and pupils. This included a seating circle, stump chairs, pathways and den building materials.

Most recently, I was grateful for Dan's advice and ideas to create safe and educational woodland spaces on our school site. Incorporating their knowledge and understanding of outdoor education with their arboreal skills, and some hard working attitudes, the children in school now have an exciting woodland adventure area and the staff have a wealth of woodland resources to enhance their teaching whilst maintaining the natural habitat for wildlife.
