A mature 20m+ sycamore tree had significant rot at the union which posed a risk of failure and a threat to damage the adjacent property and oil tank. Due to the proximity of the residence and amenities it was not possible to fell the tree, instead it required a sectional dismantle to remove sections off the tree bit by bit. This is done taking a ground up approach removing the lower limbs first gradually ascending to remove the upper limbs. Some limbs could be cut and dropped directly to the ground. Other limbs required the use of ropes to 'catch, swing and lower' to the ground. The brash was chipped for garden mulch and the wood was split for firewood.
